Church of St. Peter and Paul, Liberk
In the picturesque village of Liberk in the Orlické Mountains stands the unique wooden Church of Sts. Peter and Paul, built in 1691–1692 on the site of the original medieval church destroyed in the 15th century. This single-nave building with a gabled roof is an important monument of folk architecture. In 2014 it was declared a National Cultural Monument.
The church interior is adorned with Baroque coffered ceilings and wooden statues of St. Wenceslas and St. John of Nepomuk by a local native, sculptor Filip Jakub Prokop. He also decorated the main part of the altar and the organ. Later he worked at the imperial court in Vienna. The complex is complemented by a wooden belfry and a timbered rectory. Together they form a unique ensemble of sacred architecture. Tours are possible by prior arrangement via the contact provided. Parking is available near the church.
