Czech Třebová
Česká Třebová is a prominent yet picturesque town in the Pardubice Region, at the foothills of the Orlické Mountains. Most of us associate it mainly with the railway. The town is an important transport hub in eastern Bohemia, but it would be a shame to see it only as a transfer station on your travels.
T. G. Masaryk Square forms the heart of the town together with the fountain, the town hall and the Church of St. James. The surrounding streets hide galleries, cafés and shops with regional products. You shouldn’t miss the Rotunda of St. Catherine, the only Romanesque building in the territory of Eastern Bohemia. Almost opposite the church, on Klácelova Street, don’t forget to stop by the modern town museum during your visit. Here you will find exhibitions titled Transport Junctions, or to Česká Třebová by train, Velorex, plane and boat. These four exhibitions connect modes of transport that are typical for the town and closely linked to its history.
Overlooking the town is the Javorka lookout park, from where you can easily reach the Kozlov Ridge. Here you’ll find the popular Kozlovský kopec lookout tower, Max Švabinský’s cottage and a renowned hikers’ lodge. In the park you will also find interesting sculptures, a children’s playground, relaxation areas with barbecue spots, and a unique project featuring a cold-plunge pond. It serves all town residents and visitors all year round. The pond is fed by a local spring, which makes the water crystal clear and refreshing.
Česká Třebová is a town of sport. It offers a modern indoor swimming pool, an ice rink, sports halls and a network of cycle paths in the beautiful Orlicko countryside. Bikers will enjoy the nearby Bikepark Peklák.
Good to know
In the town, it is possible to park by the railway station (also suitable for transferring to public transport), in the car park by the town hall, and in an area near the cultural centre.
