Skutina Fortress

Skutina was designed on the Skutina elevation near the village of Sedloňov in the Orlické Mountains, and six structures were planned here (N-S 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 52a). Specifically, these were two fortress infantry blockhouses (N-S 48 and N-S 49), a structure with an artillery turret housing a pair of 10 cm howitzers (N-S 50), and a structure with a mortar (N-S 51). The most massive structure was to be an artillery blockhouse with three 10 cm vz. 38 howitzers (N-S 52).

Visitors can tour the reconstructed infantry blockhouse N-S 48, code-named U Stodol. Inside the structure, a staircase and lift shaft 36 metres deep has been built. Today, you can descend 201 steps to its bottom underground, where you can see about 9 metres of concreted gallery and look into the blasted tunnel heading towards blockhouse N-S 49. You can also see the commander's room, the radio operator's room, or the troops' quarters.

There is a visitor car park near the fortress. For hikers, the site is also accessible from tourist trails leading from nearby villages, for example Sedloňov or Olešnice in the Orlické Mountains.
